Theodore “Ted” C. Barker

November 5, 1942 – March 28, 2019

Theodore “Ted” C. Barker, 76, Anderson passed away on March 28, 2019 at Community Hospital Anderson surrounded by family following an extended illness. He was born in Noblesville on November 5, 1942 to Byron and Maxine (Clidence) Barker.

Ted is a graduate of Vernon Township High School (1960) where he played trumpet in the marching band. He worked in construction for most of his life and very much enjoyed woodworking. He was a talented craftsman who had a passion for cars (well, FORDS!) and may have engaged in a drag race or two when he was younger. Ted will be lovingly remembered as a storyteller with a great sense of humor who truly valued the relationships he had with his family and high school classmates with whom he became lifelong friends. Ted was also a member of Cyntheanne Christian Church.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Mariena (Misner) Barker; two sons, Jeffrey Barker, Holdenville, Okla., and Tommy Barker, Muncie; one daughter, Crystal (Scott Wagner) Kirby, Anderson; three stepsons, Bob (Becky) Kramer, Fortville, David (Melissa) Crull, Anderson, and Daniel (Amber) Crull, Alexandria; two stepdaughters, Tina (Karl) Moore, Anderson, and Lori West, Anderson; and one daughter-in-law, Kelly Jones. Also surviving are two brothers, Philip (Cathi) Barker, Westfield, and Tommy Huffman of Florida; two sisters, Nancy Pelsue, Lapel, and Beth Warren, Noblesville; a special friend and caregiver, Anita Swafford; and many other loving family members, friends and classmates.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Cyntheanne Christian Church, 13151 Cyntheanne Road, Fishers, with Pastor Brent Emerick officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Cremation will follow.
