American Structurepoint’s Architecture + Interiors team received the Best in Show Award at the 2019 IIDA Indiana Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for the CEDIA headquarters building in Fishers. CEDIA’s headquarters also received the first-place award in the competition’s Corporate/Commercial New Construction category.

American Structurepoint provided architectural and interior design services for the 40,000 square foot, $13.7 million global headquarters to provide a distinctive high-tech showcase for the latest in smart-home technology.

CEDIA is the leading global authority in the $15 billion home technology industry representing 3,700-member companies worldwide and serving more than 30,000 industry professionals that manufacture, design and integrate goods and services for the connected home.

CEDIA occupies 30,000 square feet on the first and third floors; another 10,000 square feet is available for lease on the second floor. A key headquarters component the team designed is a 3,000 square foot experience center featuring a living room, bedroom and a home theatre more powerful than an IMAX to spotlight smart technology one might find in an integrated residence.

The first floor is dedicated to world-class training facilities, a podcast studio, basic boot camp rooms and advanced boot camp spaces for training and members’ use. CEDIA’s office component include private and open office, a conference room with smart glass that turns opaque for privacy, and an executive board room seating up to 32 people at an impressive 40-foot long table looking out onto the executive terrace.

A real show stopper of the space is a 10-foot tall wire chandelier above an open staircase that depicts the overall interior design concept blending residential design with a flair of technology. The building’s design also maximizes the use of natural lighting to meet the client’s request that every office space have access to natural light.

“We are extremely proud and honored to be recognized by our peers in the interior design community,” said American Structurepoint Director of Interior Design Erica Irvin, IIDA, NCIDQ, RID, LEED AP. “Our collaboration and design with CEDIA’s staff created an amazing headquarters that embodies CEDIA’s mission, vision and passion for smart technology.”

American Structurepoint staff, along with their design-build partners from Meyer Najem Construction, will be among those attending an invitation-only grand opening event that CEDIA is hosting today for its board members and member companies.
