Charles Eugene Cathcart

December 14, 1937 – February 27, 2019

Charles Eugene Cathcart, 81, Noblesville, passed away on February 27, 2019. He was born on December 14, 1937 to the late Everett and Estella (Archer) Cathcart in Indianapolis.

Charles graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in Indianapolis with the Class of 1956. Charles enjoyed hard work and that led him to a career in construction as an operating engineer.  He was a crane operator and a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103.

On January 23, 1959, Charles married the love of his life, Yvonne (Barrick) Cathcart, and the two of them have been at each other’s sides for 60 years. When Charles retired, it didn’t take him long to find a second career.  He started a mowing and snow removal business and had done that for several years. When he wasn’t mowing or moving snow, he loved to mushroom hunt, hang out with his neighbor and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also loved spending time with his cats, but especially his dog Lexi.

Charles never met a stranger. After meeting Charles, he would make you feel like you’ve known each other for years.  He loved kids and many of the kids knew him simply as papa. He was a member of Legacy Bible Church in Noblesville. Charles and Yvonne instilled so many valuable lessons to their two daughters and family whom will greatly miss him: His loving wife of 60 years Yvonne, their two daughters, Denise (Aaron) Olvey, Sheridan; and Lisa Cathcart, Carmel.

Charles was a proud grandfather to Mindi (Eric) Hardcorn, Edgewood, Ky.; Kaeli (William) Kimrey, Noblesville; Corey Standifer (Brooke Rice), Indianapolis; and Jacob Olvey, Westfield. Charles was also a great-grandfather to Cheyenne Haley and Elijah Hardcorn, Edgewood, Ky. He was a devoted brother to Bert (Barbara) Cathcart, Carmel; Richard (Brenda) Cathcart, Greenfield; and Harry (Lois) Cathcart of Florida. Charles was an uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his siblings, Everett Jr., Thomas, Joseph, James, Jeanette and Steven.
