The Nickel Plate Express is serving up more than just a train ride with its Dinner Express, scheduled for March 2.
Boarding in downtown Atlanta, the Dinner Express will feature four locally-owned Cicero restaurants. Passengers aboard the train can dine at Cicero establishments 10 West Restaurant & Bar, DeLullo’s Trattoria, Big Dog’s Barbecue and a fast-growing favorite, the Boathouse Kitchen and Swan Dive.
Passengers will board in downtown Atlanta and enjoy a 30-minute ride into Cicero, where they will deboard on Cicero’s quaint Jackson Street. 10 West, DeLullo’s, Big Dogs and the Boathouse are all a short jaunt from the railroad crossing on Jackson Street. Passengers can purchase cocktails and beer on board the train before and after dinner.
With the addition of the Boathouse in November, Cicero is fast becoming a foodie destination. The sleepy lake town has established a reputation for great eats, all within a mile radius.
“Cicero has an incredible restaurant scene tucked away in northern Hamilton County,” said Nickel Plate Express Communications Coordinator Dagny Zupin. “The Cicero community has been really supportive of the train and we are excited to bring them new customers via rail. Once you taste the food at 10 West, DeLullo’s, Big Dogs or the Boathouse you’re hooked. I think the Dinner Express will create some new repeat customers for our partners here in Cicero.”
“Cicero is becoming a culinary destination,” said 10 West co-owner and founder Brett Morrow. “All the restaurant owners want to see Cicero thrive and grow. It’s a combined team effort; we all support each other. It’s great that the train can aid in that growth.”
Tickets for the Dinner Express are available at NickelPlateExpress.com/tickets, with 125 tickets available for the event. Tickets for the Dinner Express are all inclusive, covering the cost of the train ride as well as dinner at the corresponding restaurant.
