County swimmers advance to Saturday’s finals

The boys swimming sectionals began Thursday with preliminaries, and Hamilton County teams had many swimmers advance to Saturday’s finals.
At the Noblesville sectional, defending state champion Carmel qualified all 27 of its swims to the championship heat. The Greyhounds earned the top seed in nine events, including all three relays. Individual top seeds are Jacob Mitchell in the 200 and 500 freestyles, Andrew Rafalko in the individual medley, Alec DeLong in the 50 free, Griffin Hadley in the 100 free and Wyatt Davis in the backstroke.
Westfield advanced all 27 of its swims to Saturday, with 19 going to the championship heat and the other eight into the consolation heat. The Shamrocks’ Cameron Clayton earned two top seeds, in the butterfly and the breaststroke.
The host Millers qualified 13 swims into the championship and 10 swims into the consolations. Jack Wolfred has Noblesville’s highest seed, qualifying second in the 50 free.
Hamilton Heights sent four swims into the championship and five more into the consols. Jared Holder picked up the Huskies’ highest seed, with a second in the backstroke.
Guerin Catholic’s 200 free relay qualified 10th, reaching the consolation final.
At Hamilton Southeastern, both the Royals and Fishers sent all 27 swims into the finals. Southeastern qualified 26 swims into the championship and one into the consolation, while the Tigers advanced 25 to the championship and two into the consols.
The Royals earned six top seeds. Blake Ratliff is seeded first in the IM and backstroke, while Donald Rogers picked up top seeds in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Southeastern is also seeded first in the 200 and 400 free relays.
Fishers will have four top seeds in Saturday’s finals: Tyler Schwertfeger in the 200 free, Drake Stallworth in the butterfly, Aaron Frollo in the 500 free and Cory Jacocks in the breaststroke.
At Lawrence North, University sent seven swims into the championship and five into the consolations. Keegan Priest earned the top seed in the butterfly.
