Carmel schedules public interviews for candidates seeking seats on Plan Commission, Parks Board

The City of Carmel has scheduled public interviews for applicants seeking to fill vacancies on two government boards – the Carmel Plan Commission and the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Board. Both positions will be filled by Mayor Jim Brainard.

The public interviews will commence at 5:30 p.m. at Carmel City Hall in the Council Chambers on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 26, for the vacancy on the Parks Board
  • Wednesday, Feb. 27, for the vacancy on the Plan Commission

These interview sessions are open to the public.

The candidate who is appointed to the Carmel Plan Commission will be one of nine voting members and serve a term of four years. The Plan Commission helps manage the city’s growth and development, as well as, helps the City Council develop and update city ordinances, the Comprehensive Plan, the Thoroughfare Plan and other long-range plans for housing, transportation, neighborhood development, parks, commercial development and public facilities.

The candidate appointed to the Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation (Parks Board) will also be one of nine members of that board and serve a term of four years. The Parks Board is the policy-setting body and fiduciary guardian for Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
