Get your questions answered at White River Vision Plan meeting in Carmel next week

How clean is the White River? What does the future hold for this important Central Indiana water asset? These are the type of questions attendees can ask of local stormwater and river quality experts at the White River Vision Plan meeting on Feb. 21 at Wilfong Pavilion at Founder’s Park in Carmel.

The community is encouraged to come from 6 to 7 p.m. Cards will be available for participants to write down questions they’ve always wanted to ask about river flow, stormwater runoff, water quality, treatment plans, erosion, watershed impact and other issues concerning the White River’s health and future stability.

Executive Director Jill Hoffman of the White River Alliance, an organization that works to monitor the river’s health, will provide an overview of watershed, which includes surrounding streams, farm fields, quarries and other areas that impact the ground water that feeds the river. This will be followed by public questions and answers of panelists from Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Hamilton County who monitor and manage water health, conservation, drainage and stormwater.

“A large area of focus for the White River Vision Plan is understanding water quality now and in the future,” said Hamilton County Tourism CEO/president Brenda Myers. “We think bringing together the experts to help understand the river’s water quality conditions will be beneficial for everyone.”
