The two Hamilton County-hosted swimming sectional preliminary events took place on Friday, and everything went pretty much as expected.
At Carmel, the Greyhounds qualified all 27 of their swims for the championship heat at today’s sectional finals, which begin at 1 p.m. Carmel, which is going for a 33rd consecutive state title, earned the top seed in each event.
Noblesville and Westfield both qualified all their swims for the final. The Millers sent 20 swims to the championship heat and the other seven to the consolation heat, with Westfield getting 14 swims on to the fast heat and 13 more to the consols.
Hamilton Heights totaled 15 swims into the final, eight in the championship and seven in the consolations. Guerin Catholic will have eight total swims competing today, four each in the fast heat and the consols.
At Fishers, both the Tigers and Hamilton Southeastern qualified all 27 of their swims in today’s finals, which also starts at 1 p.m. The Royals have 26 swims in the championship heat and one in the consols, with Fishers getting 25 in the fast heat and the other two in the consolation.
Both sites will have their diving preliminaries today, starting at 9 a.m. The diving finals will take place during the swimming finals.
Here is a complete list of sectional prelim results. Positions 1-8 qualify for the championship (“A”) heat, positions 9-16 qualify for the consolation (“B”) heat, positions 17 and 18 are alternates.
