September 6, 1924 – January 31, 2019
Ina Lucille McKinney, 94, Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Parkwood Healthcare in Lebanon. Born September 6, 1924 in Strawtown, she was the daughter of the late John Earl and Loretta (Hughes) Irion.
Ina attended Walnut Grove High School and made Hamilton County her home for most of her life. Quilting was by far her favorite hobby. She enjoyed making things for her friends and family. When it came to quilting, Ina didn’t really need a project or a special occasion, she just did it and would find the perfect need for it later. She also liked to playing cards. She would never turn down a game whenever the opportunity presented itself. Ina also liked to stay as active as she could and maintaining her property seemed to fit the bill. She really enjoyed mowing and tending to her garden.
The one thing that Ina took the most pride in however, was her wonderful family. Ina is survived by her son, Stephen W. McKinney (Donna), Sheridan; her daughter, Barbara Hanshew (Bill), Sheridan; eight grandchildren, Elaine Cuban (Bob) of Illinois, Angela Leisure, Sheridan; Loretta Yates (Chris), Carmel; Wren McKinney (Margaret), Sheridan; Levi McKinney (Leah), Sheridan; Jeremy McKinney (Tonya), Sheridan; Megan McKinney, Sheridan; and Jeff Soden, Sheridan; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edgar Irion (Melva), Strawtown; and one sister, Ione Meeks, Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Beverly Terry and Carole Ann Irion; three sisters, Eva, Ethel and Ella; and by her loving husband, Alton Wayne McKinney, on January 26, 2005. He and Ina were married on April 3, 1943.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor George Cooper will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery, Cicero.
