Miller gymnasts place fourth at Western Invitational

The Noblesville gymnastics team placed fourth out of nine teams at the Western Invitational on Saturday.
The Millers scored 86.70 points, and also had some good individual performances at the meet.
“We had a great day today with some personal bests and career highs,” said Noblesville coach Jody Ramey. “It was also awesome to have senior Devyn Palmer back into the Lady Miller line-up after coming off of a back injury.”
Although Palmer was only able to compete in two events, Ramey was still happy to see her back. Palmer proved she is ready for competition, placing seventh in the floor exercise with a 7.975.
The Millers had a solid floor day, with Kayleigh Sahr placing fifth by scoring 8.225. Not only was that the highest placing for Noblesville, it was also a career-high Sahr. Olivia Mangin took eighth with a 7.95.
Mangin had the highest Millers score with an 8.45 on vault, good for seventh place. Sahr scored 8.35 for another career high. Mangin took eighth on the uneven bars with a 6.60, and totaled 29.50 for her all-around score.
Kiley Reisner scored a career-high 7.675 on the floor and made a beam stick on the balance beam, earning a 6.95.
“Kiley is going to be a strong competitor for us on balance beam as this is her best event,” said Ramey. “I am looking forward to seeing her excel on this event.”
“Overall we had a great day, improving almost seven points from the start of season,” said Ramey. “Improving in that number of points in just a few short weeks is huge for the sport of gymnastics and the team.  I was very proud of all the girls today, this was a solid competition for our team today.”
The Millers’ next meet is Tuesday at New Palestine.
