A local church is offering help to people impacted by the government shutdown.

Grace Church is opening its care center to furloughed workers and people who are losing their food stamps. Beginning this week, federal employees and their families can visit the church’s food pantry.

The church’s pastor Keith Carlson says the center’s mission is to help people experiencing hardships in the community. Grace Church serves nearly 600 families a week. Carlson says donations and volunteers are always welcome.

The church is located at 5504 E. 146th St.
