‘Hounds place second at MIC meet

The Carmel wrestling team finished a close second to Warren Central at Friday’s Metropolitan Conference meet at Lawrence Central.
The Greyhounds scored 222 points, with the Warriors getting 237 points. Carmel did have five individual champions, starting with 106-pounder Suhas Chundi. The junior got a technical fall victory over Center Grove freshman Michael Tharpe, 21-5.
Senior Kyle Holman also picked up a tech fall win, beating Lawrence North senior Deacon Pettiford 20-4. The ‘Hounds then won three matches in a row in the middle-to-heavy weights: Senior Logan Hart triumphed at 170 over Warren junior Damon McClain in a 17-6 major decision, senior Cameron Bacon edged out North Central senior Devontay Moore 6-4 at 182 pounds, and senior Jack Heldt got an overtime fall over Pike senior Dakari Kenny to win at 195.
