Big first quarter sends Bulldogs past Shamrocks

Westfield lost a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game to Brownsburg Friday at The Rock, by the score of 65-49.
The Bulldogs stunned the Shamrocks in the first quarter, taking a 27-8 lead, then extended their advantage to 44-19 by halftime. Westfield outscored Brownsburg in both quarters of the second half, but the early deficit was too much to make up.
Zach Banks scored 21 points for the ‘Rocks, with Caleb Welch adding 12. Eli Patchett led the rebounding with five, while Braden Smith handed out five assists.
Westfield is 1-3 in the HCC and 6-5 overall. The Shamrocks will host Tri-West on Tuesday; that game was postponed from today due to the impending winter storm.
