Richard Block, one of Fishers’ three at-large city councilors, filed for re-election on Thursday.

Currently serving as Vice President of the City Council, Block has been instrumental in Fishers’ growth and economic development successes in recent years. He serves on the Fishers Planning Commission and has been a leader of the 2040 Fishers Comprehensive Development Plan to promote sustainable growth and maintain the city’s vibrancy.

“As the city of Fishers grows, we need to make sure our infrastructure, city services and quality of life keep pace,” Block said. “I look forward to continue serving our community and striving to make Fishers a prime destination to build a career and raise a family.”

Block says his priorities going forward include continuing to enhance downtown Fishers, investing in the city’s infrastructure and making quality of life improvements for residents, such as development of the Nickel Plate pedestrian trail.

On the Council, Block has also been a strong advocate for public safety and supporting Fishers’ first responders. He was a founding board member of the Fifty Club of Fishers, a non-profit that provides supplemental life insurance and disability benefits to city firefighters and police officers who are injured or killed in the line of duty.

Block is president and owner of Paragon Realty and is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He and his wife, Betsy, have four grown children, John Michael, Will, Chris and Leila. Block also coaches youth sports and is a past president of the HSE SPORTS Corporation.
