The Guerin Catholic boys team used runs in the second and fourth quarters to win at Martinsville Tuesday night 55-46.
The Artesians jumped out a 16-5 first-quarter lead, but the Golden Eagles asserted themselves in the second period, scoring 20 points to take a 25-23 advantage into halftime. After an even third quarter, GC outscored Martinsville 19-12 in the fourth.
Bernie McGuinness led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds; including eight rebounds on the offensive end. McGuinness also handed out four assists. Joseph Bobilya threw in three 3-pointers on his way to 14 points.
The Golden Eagles are 9-6 and host Brebeuf Jesuit Friday night as part of a Circle City Conference girls-boys doubleheader.
