Fishers City Councilor Pete Peterson has announced he will run for re-election in the Southeast district. He filed Tuesday morning with the Hamilton County clerk.
During his time as councilor, Peterson has consistently advocated for entrepreneurs and encouraged technology growth in the city. His dedication led to the introduction of Launch Fishers, a co-working space designed for entrepreneurs, and the new Internet of Things (IoT) Lab.
Alongside creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive, Peterson and his fellow councilors oversaw unprecedented investments in the city. Their success brought over $500 million in economic development and over 2,000 new jobs to the City of Fishers. This landed Fishers with national recognition as one of the “Best Places to Live in America” by Money Magazine.
Peterson is proud to have completed the neighborhood trail system with new pedestrian bridges around Geist.
“Increasing our residents’ quality of life is essential to Fishers’ success. I decided to serve because I wanted to contribute to making Fishers a smart, vibrant and entrepreneurial place to live,” said Peterson.
Peterson’s plans for improving the quality of life around the Geist area is not finished yet. In his next term, he plans to finish the new Geist park, improve safety and the water quality of the lake. This will be a crucial project as the lake continues to attract more and more visitors each year. Peterson also plans to advocate for amenities along the Geist park area by pushing for better signs, lighting and landscaping.
Peterson also looks forward to new development projects across the city. These projects include the new First Internet Bank expansion to the downtown area, the Yard, a new restaurant development opening this spring, and two new fire stations for the city.
Peterson is currently the Director of Business Development at RQAW. He moved to Fishers in 2003 and lives with his wife, Rachel, and children, Carly and Cole.
