Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-Ind.-05) voted to pass S. 24, the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act, which overwhelmingly passed out of the House of Representatives with a vote of 411-7.

“Federal employees in Indiana and across the country are not receiving a paycheck today because leaders in the House and Senate are unable to reach a consensus with the Administration that would re-open the government,” said Brooks. “We must ensure hard working men and women who are furloughed or still working are paid in full once the government has been fully funded. I am proud this bill is on its way to the President’s desk to be signed into law so that federal workers now and in the future are provided the financial security they deserve.”
S. 24, the Government Employee Fair Treatment Act, was introduced in the Senate by Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.), and guarantees backpay to federal employees affected by the government shutdown. The Senate voted to pass this bill on Jan. 10, 2019.
