Fishers City Councilor David George filed paperwork to seek re-election on Wednesday to continue representing Fishers’ Southwest district.

As a 16-year member of the Fishers City Council, George has helped guide the growth, economic development and strong financial position the city is in. Fishers was recently recognized as a AAA bond rated city, one of only a few cities in the state with that distinction.

In his last four years on the council, George shepherded an unprecedented amount of investment into the community. He helped shape the city through the downtown redevelopment plan and creation of the Nickel Plate District. He is currently a member of the Fishers Chamber of Commerce, and as councilor, has helped negotiate multiple public-private partnerships within the city.

“Fishers has seen incredible growth and success in recent years, and I’m excited to build on that momentum by continuing to make Fishers a great place to live, work and raise a family,” George said. “I am committed to maintaining responsible, transparent and conservative government while also delivering top notch city services, improving the city’s infrastructure and continuing to pursue economic development opportunities for Fishers.

Looking forward, George’s top priorities include promoting local entrepreneurship and fostering innovation, as well as investing more in city infrastructure. Entrepreneurial initiatives include further development of Launch Fishers, the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, and the new Makerspace at 106th Street and Interstate 69. George’s focus on increasing investment in infrastructure is aimed at improving neighborhood streets, curbs and sidewalks.

George is Vice President of Development at CRG Residential and is a member of both the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has lived in southwest Fishers for 23 years.
