Todd Zimmerman announced on Wednesday he will seek another term on the Fishers city council. He filed with the Hamilton County clerk and will run at large.
As 2018 Fishers City Council President, Zimmerman helped Fishers become one of the most fiscally responsible cities in the state, invested in teachers and passed funding to improve the city’s roads. He says his leadership on the council and in the city has been foundational to the economic success across the city.
Zimmerman has played an integral role support Fishers’ initiative for mental health. He established the InterFaith Mental Health Group to bring a variety of faith based leaders together. The goal of the group is to help find solutions and support for Fishers residents struggling with various mental health issues.
Fishers’ teachers are a top priority for Zimmerman. Along with Councilor Eric Moeller, Zimmerman co-founded the Zimmerman/Moeller Fund to support teachers in the Hamilton Southeastern School Foundation.
In his next term, Zimmerman will continue to build upon his work with Fishers’ mental health initiative. To Zimmerman, the future of Fishers includes opportunities for all residents to come together to address and battle mental health. In addition, Zimmerman also will maintain Fishers’ fiscally sound position and looks forward to the continued downtown development and economic opportunities for the city.
Zimmerman is energized by the growth in the city, saying, “I moved to Fishers when I was only 16 years old and remember shopping with my mom at Archers Grocery. I love calling Fishers my home and am excited for its future.”
Zimmerman is an active member of the community as a youth basketball and baseball coach and a Youth Mentoring Initiative mentor.
Zimmerman is currently a commercial insurance advisor for Brown & Brown Insurance where he focuses on loss prevention and asset protection. He attended Anderson University and lives in Fishers with his wife of 19 years, Nikki, and three sons Joshua, Elijah and Benji.
