Carmel Rotarians open year at Sullivan’s

The Carmel Rotary Club held its first get-together of the year on Jan. 3 at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, 3316 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. John Stanley, who served as president of the club for 2017-2018, is general manager of Sullivan’s and provided exceptional appetizers.

Jon Walker, of Centier Bank, succeeded Stanley as president of the club. The presidential terms last one year and turn over following CarmelFest, the annual Fourth of July festival organized by Carmel Rotary. Shell Barger, a realtor, succeeds Brad Sexauer as Vice President for the club.

Rotary held many events in 2018. In addition to CarmelFest and the Fourth of July parade, the club hosted Bourbon Fest, which raised money for international programs, and Rock with Rotary, which raised money for community nonprofits.

Rotary helped build a playground in Home Place in 2018 and participated in a Habitat for Humanity build. Grants were also given to projects such as a car seat program and a literacy program for adults with disabilities.

Rotary meets weekly at noon on Fridays at the Woodland Country Club, 100 Woodland Lane, Carmel, just off 116th Street east of Range Line Road. Any interested members are invited. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
