Guerin Catholic picked up its first Circle City Conference win of the season on Friday, beating Bishop Chatard 60-54 at the Eagles Nest in the Golden Eagles’ annual Samaritan’s Feet game.
Guerin had a great defensive performance in the first quarter, holding the Trojans to three points, while scoring 10 points of its own. Chatard came back in the second period, but the Golden Eagles still led 23-18 at halftime. The Trojans were within 40-36 after three quarters, but a 20-point fourth period sealed the game for Guerin Catholic.
Kian Sills and Joseph Bobilya both scored 15 points, with Bobilya nailing three 3-pointers and Sills making two. Bernie McGuinness earned a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Bobilya handed out four assists and Sills blocked two shots.
The Golden Eagles are 1-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall. They host Bishop Luers at 4 p.m. today.
