Rotary District 6560 Governor Dale Basham recently visited with the Sheridan Rotary as part of his duties to visit every club within the district at least once a year. The Rotarians are always pleased to welcome the district leadership to Sheridan. Sometimes smaller clubs can feel a bit left out of the loop but with a visit from the Governor, Sheridan feels a little more recognized, and that’s a good thing.
The Governor talked about a variety of things going on at District 6560 and national and international levels within Rotary but most of his time was spent listening to Rotarians tell him what the club does locally. Governor Basham was quick to recognize the fact that Sheridan Rotary does many little, often unnoticed, projects such as cleaning up in the local parks and cooperating with other organizations to provide meals and other services to local folks. He praised the club for documenting those activities and for the extensive print and social media coverage generated locally.
Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders and problem solvers that see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in local communities and in every person. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision.
For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, Rotarians are always working to better our world, and they stay committed to the end.
Sheridan Rotary has formal meetings the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month at 6:15 p.m. in the Community Room of the Sheridan Public Library, 103 W. First St., Sheridan. There are usually interesting programs starting at 6:45 p.m. that are open to the public.
