Rex Pitts inducted into Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame

Sheridan basketball star Rex Pitts was inducted into the Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame during a ceremony at halftime of Tuesday’s Blackhawks boys basketball game.
Pitts played for legendary Coach Larry Hobbs at Sheridan High School and was on the starting five for four consecutive sectional championship teams in 1949-1952. He was named to the All-County teams in 1950, 1951 and 1952; All-Sectional Team the same three years; and the All-Regional Team in 1951. He was nominated to the Indianapolis Star All-Star Team in 1952.
Rex continued his career at the University of Tennessee and Georgetown College. At Georgetown, his team won the conference three years and participated in the NAIA tournament.
During his 10 years of teaching in Kentucky, Rex successfully coached boys basketball, cross country, track and girls basketball and track.
He spent 27 years as a distributor of Chevron Products in Frankfort, Ky. and after retirement became a property analyst with the Commonwealth Kentucky. He and his wife Emily have two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
