After a nine-day break, Guerin Catholic returned to action at Lapel.
The Bulldogs beat the Golden Eagles 52-41. Lapel led 13-5 after the first quarter. Guerin cut the lead to 33-29 going into the fourth period, but the Bulldogs put the game away by outscoring GC 19-8 in the fourth.
“We were able to overcome a sluggish start and make it a four-point game heading into the fourth quarter,” said Guerin Catholic coach Jeff Buckner. “We missed a 3-pointer that would have tied it late in the game and just couldn’t get over the hump. Senior Paige Bennett and junior Nicole Cunningham kept us in the game with some big shots.”
Cunningham hit three 3s on her way to a team-leading 16 points, while Bennett drained two 3s, finishing with 12 points.
The Golden Eagles are 2-9 and play Friday at Shelbyville.
