If the fact that Lapel Hall of Fame basketball coach Jimmie Howell is going for his 600th career victory Friday night at Guerin Catholic wasn’t enough, the Golden Eagles will also be hosting Champions Night.
All boys basketball alumni will be recognized before the game. Additionally a retirement ceremony for Pete Smith, the school’s only head basketball coach until he retired in June, will be take place. At halftime, then the 2012 and 2015 Class 3A State Champion teams will be introduced and honored. The game between the Golden Eagles and Bulldogs will be broadcast tape-delayed on TV-40 at 10 p.m. Friday night.
