Family of Fishers grad still needs your help

Max Shores, 21, is a Fishers High School graduate who played lacrosse and football. He is now a sophomore at Indiana University.

On Dec. 7, he suffered a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), which is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins in the brain. He was air lifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is in critical care. This brain bleed is similar to having a stroke and he has limited movement on the left side of his body.

The doctors are waiting for the swelling to go down in his brain to determine what the next steps are. Based on test results, Max is facing a long hospital stay, weeks at a rehabilitation facility and a possible long and extensive surgery which will be best for his long term recovery.

As the situation becomes more complex, the goal for donations has been raised. The family thanks all the donors who have given so far.

Please help the Shores family during this difficult time. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to help off-set the medical bills they face. During this time of giving, you may help if led to do so at this GoFundMe link.

Also, on Thursday, Dec. 20, the Hamilton Town Center Chick-fil-A will give back 15 percent of sales from 6 to 8 p.m. when you mention Max. Follow his developments on social media with the hashtag #MiracleForMax or on the GoFundMe site listed above.
