‘Hounds girls drop MIC game to No. 5 Panthers

Carmel’s girls basketball team played with Class 4A No. 5 North Central for the first quarter, but the Panthers pulled away in the middle periods to beat the Greyhounds 67-52 in a Metropolitan Conference game.
Carmel was within 16-14 after the first quarter and wasn’t too far back at halftime, trailing 27-21. But North Central outscored the ‘Hounds 21-8 in the third period to take control of the game.
Reagan Hune had an outstanding game with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Macy Berglund added 11 points and also pulled six rebounds. Mackenzie Wood also had six rebounds, with Bridget Dunn collecting five. Sophie Bair handed out five assists.
Carmel is 0-3 in the MIC and 4-7 overall. The Greyhounds host Fort Wayne Carroll at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
