Have you been itching to try your hand at creating art from a block of ice? On Saturday, Jan. 12, the City of Carmel and The Ice at Center Green presents the Festival of Ice – Ice Sculpting Class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Then stick around for the ice carving demonstrations from noon to 5 p.m.; Firehouse Chili Cook-Off, noon to 3 p.m.; Ice Bar with Luge, Live DJ and kids play area all afternoon at the Ice at Center Green, 10 Center Green, Carmel.
Learn from Indiana Ice Studio owner and professional ice sculptor Stephan Koch who will teach beginners the art of creating an ice sculpture. Each participant will get to practice on their own ice block to see what works best for them. There will be a special emphasis on learning the seven systematic steps of 3D sculpting and how frozen water becomes art.
Cost is $75 a person, which includes the use of tools. Bring a blanket to wrap your finished ice art and take it home.
