October 5, 1939 – May 3, 2017
Jon O. Hodgin, 77, of Carmel, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was born on October 5, 1939, son of Warren A. and Hazel Buckles Hodgin. The family lived in Bellevue, OH before moving to Carmel in 1956.
Jon loved all sports and played baseball, basketball and football. He was a 1957 Carmel High School graduate. He then joined the US Air Force and served his country for 4 years at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC.
In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Hodgin in 2010.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Lawrence Hodgin; grandson, Charles Devon Hodgin; sister, Janet Casper; brother, Jim (Terri) Hodgin; sister-in-law, Debra Blankenhorn; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Charlene) Lawrence, Jim (Emma) Lawrence and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church-Chapel, 100 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 p.m.
In memory of Jon, donations may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
