Westfield dropped a close game at The Rock on Wednesday, falling to Mount Vernon 39-34.
Both teams came into the contest with just one loss, and this game was nearly as close. The Marauders edged ahead 13-12 after the first quarter, and kept the one-point lead at halftime (20-19) and the end of three quarters (27-26). Westfield stayed close throughout the fourth period before Mount Vernon pulled away at the end.
Alyssa Crockett scored 11 points, in addition to collecting nine rebounds, making five steals and blocking two shots. Ava Henson had 10 points, while Gigi Eldredge also made two blocks.
Westfield is 7-2 and will play at Rushville on Saturday afternoon.
