Westfield got off to an incredible start for its boys basketball season on Saturday, sailing past Kokomo 75-33 at The Rock.
The Shamrocks scored the first four points of the game in quick fashion, eventually leading 23-9 after the first quarter. Westfield outscored the Wildkats in each period, leading 40-14 at halftime and 59-23 after three periods.
Zach Banks and Caleb Welch each poured in 16 points; Welch drained four 3-pointers along the way. Zach Bryer and Chris Chin both added 10. Nine different Shamrock players scored: Freshman Braden Smith and Benji Welch both added six points, Mason Brooks had four, Eli Patchett scored three on a 3-pointer, and Jaret Bailey and Francis Agbo each added two.
Westfield had 22 rebounds, led by Smith’s six. Simons and Patchett both pulled three. Smith also handed out six assists, while Caleb Welch dished out four assists and also made four steals. Banks and Patchett both had three steals. Simons blocked two shots.

The Shamrocks’ next game is Tuesday at Pendleton Heights.
