Jared Holder, Hamilton Heights senior, has signed a letter of intent to swim for the Ball State University Cardinals in Muncie, Indiana this fall. The Cardinals are a Division I school and part of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). He is the son of Amy and Ric Holder.
Holder, who aspires to own his own business, was drawn to Ball State because of its strong telecommunications program, beautiful campus, and the opportunity to swim for a Division I athletic institution. He is especially excited about training and swimming under the program’s new swimming and diving head coach J. Agnew.
Holder, a four-year varsity swimmer, credits Hamilton Heights Boys Assistant Swim Coach for the boy’s team, Justin Davis, as being a major influence in his development as a strong swimmer, capable of successfully competing at the Division I level. Holder, named Hamilton Heights Boys MVP for the past three years, currently holds three school records for the 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. He holds three conference titles and is the Hoosier Conference record holder in the 100 backstroke. He has participated at the state level the past two years with his best finish last year placing third in the 100 backstroke and 10th in the 50 freestyle.
“Jared has been so much fun to watch the past four years,” said Kurt Ogden, Hamilton Heights Athletic Director. “He makes swimming look so easy. His commitment to the sport has shown as he has broken and re-broken a handful of records the past couple of years and we look for that to happen even more throughout his senior year. Ball State is getting an outstanding swimmer and an even better kid.”
