Anderson Museum of Art to hold antique appraisal fair

The Women’s League of the Anderson Museum of Art is sponsoring an event called “An Antique Appraisal Fair,” which is very similar in many ways to the classic TV show, “Antiques Roadshow.”

It will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Art Museum’s facilities at 32 W. 10th St. in downtown Anderson. There will be several appraisal experts available to assess any item whose value you would like to know. The cost is $5 for each item with a maximum of five items per person. No firearms or weapons are allowed.

Be sure to tell your friends about this chance to evaluate their antiques. The appraisers and their field of expertise are Larry Beard – Depression Glass, Crystal and Cut Glass; Dennis Jackson – Art; Bob Lenhart – Antique Toys; Curtis Ploughman – Jewelry, Coins, Game Cards and Comics; Bob Post – Furniture and Collectibles; and Harley Sheets – Postcards.

Supplementing the appraisal portion will be the famous Casserole Kitchen. Those casseroles, made by a group of women from the Women’s League, are for sale in different sizes and flavors such as wild rice and chicken, meat loaf and vegetable lasagna. Also available will be soups such as chicken noodle, broccoli, etc. There will be containers of barbecued pulled pork with extra sauce.

A sincere thank you goes to the Central Christian Church for allowing the use of their kitchen facilities to prepare the items.

There will also be a book sale at the fair.

Hope to see you on Oct. 28. Please contact Maureen Kirchenbauer at 765-734-1495 with questions.
