Boys soccer sectionals: Royals, Millers win first-round game, will face off today

The Hamilton Southeastern and Noblesville boys soccer teams advanced to a Class 3A Sectional 8 semi-final showdown after winning first-round games on Monday at the Royals’ field.
No. 4 ranked Southeastern beat Anderson 7-0 in the opener. Southeastern scored twice in the first half, with Bryce Wetzel hitting a long shot goal off a Jacob White assist, then Zaden Eby-Holmes scored the second goal, with Sean Williams making the assist.
In the second half, Harsahil Gandham headed in HSE’s third goal, with Brendan Hench providing the assist. Ryan Otte also scored off a header, from a Brock Hatfield corner kick. For the Royals’ fifth goal, Luke Dawdy sent a cross to Haris Mizuta and he headed the ball to White, who made a tap-in goal.
Parker Gopsill scored Southeastern’s sixth goal, then Chase Hatfield got the seventh goal, with Mizuta making the assist.
Next up were the No. 19-ranked Millers, who beat Pendleton Heights 4-1. Noblesville scored first, with Colin Todd finding the back of the net. The Arabians answered on a penalty kick just before halftime.
But Noblesville scored three goals in the second half to take control of the game. Spencer Holland scored in the 45th minute, Palmer Ault followed with a goal five minutes later, and Ryan Cassidy put the fourth goal in during the 65th minute.
The Royals and the Millers will play their semi-final tonight at 5:30 p.m. That will be followed by the second semi-final, between Fishers and Muncie Central.
