Darren Peterson will run in Noblesville Common Council caucus

Darren Peterson announced earlier this month that he will run in the 2019 Noblesville Common Council At-Large race. Because Mary Sue Rowland has stepped down, her seat is now open and Peterson has filed to run in the caucus to fill the spot.

“Mary Sue Rowland was an incredible champion of Noblesville and the Arts Community, first as Mayor and most recently as Council Member,” said Peterson. “I am thankful for her 19 years of tenacious public service. Mary Sue’s passion is her legacy and can be seen in her many accomplishments.”

Peterson founded Peterson Architecture in downtown Noblesville over 21 years ago and has been an active and passionate community leader. He’s been involved with developing arts leadership, serving on civic boards and advocating for business opportunities. Currently, Peterson is president of Nickel Plate Arts, treasurer of Noblesville Main Street, an active board member of Keep Noblesville Beautiful and a member of all four Hamilton County Business Chambers of Commerce.

Peterson has been the driving force behind creating and executing several successful events and projects in Noblesville. His most recent and visible impact on the community was in the spring of 2018: He conceptualized and carried out the artwork covering two crosswalks at Forest Park, in a partnership with Noblesville Parks, Nickel Plate Arts and Keep Noblesville Beautiful.

Other events include: Noblesville Main Street’s Thursday market, which evolved into Meals from the Market, a great example of alley and lost space activation; CanStruction, a non-perishable food sculpture event that has donated over 20,000 cans to local food pantries in the last five years, and he has been instrumental in transforming the annual Duck Race into a Festival celebrating the White River.

As a Noblesville Councilperson, Peterson says he will be an active and vocal advocate for historically sensitive, intelligent and sustainable growth to evolve into an even stronger and safer community.

Peterson is married to Jennifer Roberts and is the proud father of two daughters, Emily and Ava, both Noblesville High School graduates, now attending Ball State University. Peterson enjoys creating opportunities for youth and people to get more involved in the community. As a business owner, he’s been a host to several college and high school interns. Peterson has also been a certified cake decorating instructor to over 450 students.
