This October, Nickel Plate Express and the Hamilton Heights High School FFA chapter will work together on the Pumpkin Express, an excursion that will benefit the two non-profit organizations.

A celebration of fall in Indiana, the Pumpkin Express will take families to the pumpkin patch aboard Nickel Plate Express’ historic 1956 train. Excursions will board in Atlanta at noon and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in October. The train will then travel to the Hamilton Heights pumpkin patch where the FFA fall festival awaits.

All fall festival activities, such as hay rides and pony rides, are complimentary for guests. Passengers are encouraged to bring cash for purchasing pumpkins, as all pumpkin proceeds benefit the FFA.

“The Hamilton Heights school corporation and FFA club have been great to work with,” says Nickel Plate Express Executive Director Deanna Holt. “FFA adviser Emily Carson and her students have aided in planning an event that will be special for Hamilton County families. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come.”

Pumpkin Express rides begin this Saturday, Oct. 6. Tickets are available at NickelPlateExpress.com.
