In a Thursday all-county volleyball match, Hamilton Southeastern swept Noblesville 25-16, 25-16, 25-23.
Taylor Shelton led the Class 4A No. 4 Royals’ offense with 11 kills, followed by Delaney Garner with eight kills, Julie Patras with seven and Maddie Cole with six. Carly Mills had 12 digs and Olivia Phillips handed out 28 assists.
“Obviously it was a good win,” said HSE coach Jason Young. The coach said the Royals have had some injuries over the last week that has changed their lineup a little bit, so Southeastern’s focus now is trying to “get right” before the sectional starts the week of Oct. 8.
“That’s basically what tonight was about was a good first step,” said Young. “But we got four more opportunities before sectional starts to get us right.”
The Royals are 5-1 in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play and are currently tied with Avon for first place. Southeastern is 22-6 overall.
Ava Nichols handed out 33 assists for the Millers, with Lexie Almodovar putting down 18 kills. Both had one block. Erika Knieper each hit six kills, while Olivia Gulley collected 16 digs and Kayla Thompson had eight.
“I think our goal right now is to make sure we’re playing better every set,” said NHS coach Steve Hawthorne. “The team definitely played with a little more confidence tonight. I thought we did play better. Obviously by that third set, I think we played some really good volleyball.”

Fishers, ranked No. 8 in 4A, beat Hamilton Heights 25-13, 25-9, 25-11 in a Thursday match.
