Cross country: Noblesville girls, Fishers boys win HCC meet

The Fishers boys dominated and the Noblesville girls won a close competition during the Hoosier Crossroads Conference cross country meet, which took place Saturday at Noblesville’s Chinquapin Ridge course.
In the boys meet, the Tigers took four of the top five spots on their way to a 60-point win over Hamilton Southeastern. Fishers scored 26 points, HSE scored 86.
Ethan Meyer was the race winner, clocking in with a time of 15:39.3. Alex Meyer finished third, Drew Smith took fourth and Jared Halamka placed fifth. The Royals were led by Joe Swinson, who landed in ninth place.
Westfield finished in fourth as a team with 98 points, while the Millers were fifth with 117. Noah Douthit and Samuel Novak placed 11th and 12th respectively for the Shamrocks. Noblesville’s Travis Hickner had an outstanding meet, taking second place.
Meanwhile, the Millers girls team edged out Fishers for the team championship, 64-66. Zionsville was a close third, scoring 70 points.
Noblesville had three runners land in the top 10, led by Sophie Reichard’s sixth-place finish. Bella Sharples-Gordon took eighth while Aubrey Swart finished 10th. The Tigers were led by Vera Schafer’s seventh-place result, while Abby Carter was ninth.
Hamilton Southeastern finished fourth by scoring 87 points; Lulu Black led all county runners by taking third. Westfield scored 174 points to take seventh; ChristyAnn Delahunty was 29th.

Carmel dominated the Metropolitan Conference meet, which took place Saturday at North Central.
The Greyhound girls scored 26 points, placing all seven of their runners in the top 10. Phoebe Bates led the way, zooming home to an individual victory in 17:36.86, over a minute ahead of second place. Jamie Klavon took fourth, Abby Parker was sixth and Lily McAndrews finished in seventh.
Carmel’s boys won their division by scoring 28 points. The Greyhounds had five racers in the top 10, with Patrick Campbell, Calvin Bates and William Murphy finishing 3-4-5.

Guerin Catholic competed in the Culver Academies Invitational on Saturday, and had runners place third in both the girls and boys races.
Ellie Schroeder led the Golden Eagle girls team, clocking in with a time of 18:31.6 to place third. In the boys race, Quinn Gallagher’s time of 15:41.9 landed him in third place.
The GC boys placed eighth as a team, while the girls were ninth.
