Volleyball: Tigers start week with two victories

The Fishers volleyball team began the week with two wins.
On Monday, the Tigers swept past Pendleton Heights 25-19, 25-22, 25-17, coming from behind in each set. Fishers trailed 15-8 in the first set before rallying, supported by serving from Audrey Haworth and Bryn Roberts. Shelby Settles served 12 straight points, including four aces.
Rose Duffy hit three kills and made 1.5 blocks late in the second set to give the Tigers a 21-17 lead, then kills from Camryn Howarth and Haley Soper gave Fishers the set. The Tigers cruised through the third set with nine kills, eight aces and one block.
Camryn Haworth collected 13 digs, hit nine kills and served two aces. Duffy handed out 27 assists to go with five digs, 1.5 blocks and one ace. Settles hit eight aces, Roberts put down 11 kills and Jada Allen led in blocks with 2.5.
On Tuesday, Fishers beat Franklin Central 25-12, 25-19, 25-14 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match. Allen hit 10 kills for the Tigers, with Roberts putting down nine and Camryn Haworth spiking eight, in addition to collecting 15 digs. Sopher made three blocks, while Emma Rosenberg and Duffy both served three aces.
Duffy also had 14 digs and 30 assists. She was honored prior to the match for making her 3,000th career assist during Fishers’ match with Brownsburg last week. Duffy’s assist total is 3,072.
The Tigers host Class 4A No. 3 Avon on Thursday for another HCC match.

Sheridan won a Monday match over Tindley, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20.
Cheyenne Brooks made seven blocks and served three aces. Allie Delph put down 11 kills and dished out six assists. Olivia Raines had eight digs and Holly Barker collected seven digs.
The Blackhawks host 2A No. 4 Lapel on Thursday.

University was swept by Speedway on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-21, 25-16.
Freshman Rachael Major led the Trailblazers in blocks in that match.
University fell to Muncie Burris, the No. 8 team in Class 3A, 25-17, 25-11, 25-8 on Monday.

Hamilton Heights lost to Zionsville on Monday 25-18, 25-13, 25-16.
Hannah Crist hit 12 kills, with Kennedy Lewis putting down six kills. Kelsey Smith made 15 digs and served eight aces. Jordan Fryman had four kills and three blocks, while Taylor Mason collected eight digs.
