The Carmel boys soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with Lawrence Central on Thursday.
Senior Brody Sullivan recorded the shutout for the Class 3A No. 14 Greyhounds, who are now 3-1-5 for the season.
“Our energy and effort tonight was awesome,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “We created numerous scoring opportunities, we were just unlucky to not find the back of the net. Both our individual and team defense was solid.”
Hamilton Heights lost to Northwestern 5-0 in the opening round of the Hoosier Conference tournament on Thursday.
The Tigers outshot the Huskies 20-4 in the first half, scoring all five of their goals. Heights came out stronger in the second half, outshooting Northwestern 9-2, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“The Huskies will dig deep and start working together as a team to overcome injuries,” said Heights coach Derrick Dean. “Caleb Grabarz made some great saves to keep the Tigers from capitalizing even more with 12 recorded saves. Josh Thorpe was player of the game as he was one that started the game and finished the game giving 110 percent.”
