Fishers Fire Department and St. Vincent Hospital Fishers have once again partnered to bring “All Things Safety” to the Fishers Community. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 8, over 60 vendors and emergency responders will set up on the St. Vincent parking lot at 13861 Olio Road, exit 210 off Interstate 69.
This free event will have safety messaging and handouts for all ages covering fire safety, back safety, helmet safety, texting and driving, CPR, self-defense, animal safety, mental health, burns, fall prevention and much more.
Indiana Diaper will perform car seat inspections for kids, Stat Flight helicopter will land and give tours of their air medical transport, kids can get fingerprinted, the Fishers Fire Department will do car extrication demonstrations, and local schools will perform with their choir and strings orchestra. While supplies last, there will be bicycle helmet giveaways and fittings, face painting, a jump house, an appearance by Blue and Kasey the Firedog will be on hand to teach safety as well.
New this year is a diaper donation event for Indiana Diaper. Indiana Diaper will accept new diapers to distribute to Indiana families in need. All sizes are welcome, and as every parent knows, babies go through a lot of diapers. Grab a package and bring with you and help a baby out.
This will be the second year of “Taste of 210” where area restaurants will hand out free samples of their food. Every 30 minutes, a new vendor will hand out samples while supplies last. This is a very exciting and fun event for the community that helps assure having the information for kids, parents and adults to make informed decisions about their daily lives.
Fire Chief Steven Orusa said, “Life experience can be guided in a preventative measure to assure the safety and well-being of our community. This is a family event that allows the family to learn together, interact with our emergency responders and make safer choices in their day to day activities.”
This will be a rain or shine event. However, if the weather becomes dangerous, the event may be canceled for the safety of the community as well as countless volunteers and responders.
