Volleyball: Sheridan beats Taylor; UHS, Tigers sweep

Sheridan beat Taylor in a four-set match Tuesday, 20-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.
Allie Delph put down seven kills for the Blackhawks, and also handed out four assists and made 14 blocks. Emma Went hit six kills and served three aces. Olivia Raines had seven digs, Maddie Zola dished out six assists, Cheyenne Brooks made 15 blocks and Josie Dickerson served four aces.
Sheridan plays at Carroll on Thursday.

University swept Anderson Prep on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-7, 25-13.
Junior Stella Behforouz led the Trailblazers in kills. University also won the junior varsity match in two sets; Kendra Stevens scored 18 points with serves.

Fishers, the No. 5-ranked team in Class 4A, swept Lawrence North 25-19, 26-24, 25-16 on Tuesday.
The Tigers were led by sophomore Jada Allen, with 10 kills and three blocks. Senior Haley Soper made three blocks and served one ace. Overall, the Tigers had 12 blocks and 11 aces for the game.
Fishers coach Steven Peek said that sophomore Camryn Haworth finished in the top three in all six statistical categories. “Her seven aces, six kills, two blocks, and 2.14 team-leading passer rating are especially noteworthy,” he said.
Senior Rose Duffy handed out 27 assists and 17 digs.
Next up for the Tigers is the Mudsock match: Fishers will host Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday.

The Royals were also in action on Tuesday. In a top 10 match, Class 4A No. 6 Southeastern was swept by 4A No. 1 Yorktown, 25-18, 25-15, 25-22.
The Royals were led by Grace Hunter with 16 kills, with Taylor Shelton hitting 13. Olivia Phillips handed out 37 assists and Carly Mills collected 19 digs. Julia Patras and Maddie Cole had a strong third set for the Royals offensively each with two kills.

Noblesville fell to McCutcheon on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.
Lexie Almodovar hit 15 kills and made eight digs. Ava Nichols handed out 29 assists.

Hamilton Heights was swept by 3A No. 1 Brebeuf Jesuit 25-9, 25-13, 25-5 on Tuesday.
Sydney Griffey made 17 attacks for the Huskies, with Kelsey Smith making 16 attacks. Carlie Ward collected nine digs.
