Boys soccer: Southeastern wins all-county battle with University

In a Thursday all-county game, Hamilton Southeastern beat University 3-0 at the Trailblazers’ field.
It was a battle of highly-ranked teams, with the Royals rated No. 4 in Class 3A and University No. 2 in 1A. Zaden Eby-Holmes scored two goals for HSE, with Sean Williams also scoring one.

Hamilton Heights dropped a Thursday game to Kokomo 3-1.
The Wildkats scored first, breaking open a tight game with about 10 minutes to go before halftime on a hard play crashing into the goal. Caleb Grabarz made a save during that play.
In the second half, the Huskies’ Donovan Trew was awarded a penalty kick and converted it to tie the score at 1-1. But the Wildkats scored the go-ahead goal with around 20 minutes left, then added the third goal with four minutes left.
Grabarz finished the game with five saves. Kokomo finished the game with 11 shots to Heights’ nine. Huskies coach Derrick Dean called it a “close intense game.”
“Luke Vanderwall was player of the game with some great hustle play,” said Dean. “Great effort on never giving up and playing a full 80 minutes.”
