The Westfield volleyball team battled with Perry Meridian on Wednesday, falling 25-22, 25-22, 13-25, 25-14 at The Rock.
Sarah Weglarz handed out 33 assists for the Shamrocks. Kenzie Daffinee hit 16 kills, with Kinsey McAfee putting down nine kills. Bailey Mendler had 24 digs, with Daffinee collecting 16 digs. Mendler also served three aces.
Westfield coach Sandra Burks was pleased with how her team played, going toe-to-toe with a Falcons team that contains Caitie Baird, who has committed to play volleyball at Stanford.
“Our game plan was to serve aggressively and to serve them out of system. We were successful with that,” said Burks. “And the goal was to serve away from Caitie Baird also. She takes the most reception serve-receive wise for them, and so we didn’t want to give her that rhythm of taking the ball and then getting the swinging right away.”
