Huskies tennis beats Taylor

The Hamilton Heights boys tennis team beat Taylor 5-0 on Wednesday at the Huskies’ courts.
The Titans only had four players, so three matches were played, with the other two victories going to Heights by default. No. 1 singles Aiden Ray won 6-1, 6-2, No. 2 singles JP Etchison was a 6-0, 6-1 winner and the No. 1 doubles team of Nic Rice and Josh Russell were victorious 6-1, 6-2.
The Huskies are 2-5 for the season.
“I’m really starting to see each player develop weapons that I know they will continue to build on throughout the remainder of this season as well as throughout their tennis careers,” said Heights coach Justin Davis. “Aiden is starting to learn how to create tough angles with his backhand, especially off returns. JP is finding his form, especially his first serve, keeping it at a higher percentage and placing it well. Nic and Josh are playing doubles as it should be played, attacking early and often at the net while keeping their first serve percentages high.
“Those are just the players that played tonight, but I could pinpoint something about every single player of mine’s game that has improved tremendously and has become a weapon of theirs. I know that sounds cliché, but I’m not sure how many other coaches with 18 players (or more) and no assistants or managers could say the same thing.”
