Girls golf: Carmel dominates MIC championship, Shamrocks’ Bruch is HCC medalist

The Carmel girls golf team dominated the Metropolitan Conference golf meet, which took place Monday at Wood Wind Golf Club.
The fourth-ranked Greyhounds easily won the team trophy, with a score of 303. Center Grove placed second with 339 and Ben Davis was third with 373.
All five Carmel golfers were named to the All-Conference team. Nina Hecht placed second with a 73, Katie Kuc was third with a 75, Elizabeth Hedrick placed fourth with a 77, Ella Woods was fifth with a 78 and Ava Hedrick scored 84.
“Great scores today,” said Greyhounds coach Kelly Kluesner. “The team managed the course very well in windy conditions. The team goal going into today’s round was for everyone to make All Conference Team. Way to accomplish your goal.”

The Hoosier Crossroads Conference golf meet took place on Monday at Bear Slide.
Westfield finished second with a team score of 319, behind top-ranked Zionsville’s 304. The Shamrocks did have the meet medalist: Junior Jocelyn Bruch carded a 72. Bruch was named to the All-Conference list, along with Natalie Shupe (78) and Grace Sndyer (79).
Hamilton Southeastern placed third with a 346; Chelsea Morrow (77) and Julia Eaton (85) both were named to the All-Conference team. Noblesville carded a 383, with Sarah Brenneman’s 87 getting her on the All-Conference list.
Fishers scored a 431. Caitlyn Kim led the Tigers with an 89.

Team scores: Zionsville 304, Westfield 319, Hamilton Southeastern 346, Brownsburg 352, Noblesville 383, Fishers 431, Franklin Central 456, Avon 460.
Medalist: Jocelyn Bruch (Westfield) 72.
Other Westfield scores: Natalie Shupe 78, Grace Snyder 79, Brette Hanavan 90, Grace Snyder 91.
Southeastern scores: Chelsea Morrow 77, Julia Eaton 85, Mara Wilson 88, Maggie Watson 96, Ashley Marcinko 104.
Noblesville scores: Sarah Brenneman 87, Taylor Caldwell 96, Mia Sommervold 99, Bella Deibel 101.
Fishers scores: Caitlyn Kim 89, Kaitlyn Brunnemer 92, Haley Gausepohl 188, Lilly McVay 132, Kaelyn Tai 135.

Noblesville won a close three-team match on Tuesday.
The Millers and Western both finished with team scores of 187, with Noblesville getting the win on the fifth-woman score. Northwestern finished with a 193.
Sommervold led the Millers with a 45, followed by Brenneman 46, Ellie Karst 47, Deibel 49, Caldwell 49 and Ellen Bennett 54.
In a Tuesday junior varsity match, Westfield beat Guerin Catholic 192-221.
Allie Hildebrand led the Shamrocks with a 43. Other Westfield scores: Claire Ireland 46, Alli McEvoy 51, Ellie Cunningham 51, Mallory Mortl 52, Tia Wallace 52, Khloe Miller 53 and Serena Lee 61.
The Golden Eagles’ Audrey Kunce was the meet medalist with a 42. Other Guerin Catholic scores were: Jenna Rust 53, Jenny Zerla 63, Anna Jacoby 63, Mia Thompson 63 and Maddie Tubergen 67.
