Nancy Jo Williams, 74, Kokomo, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 12:42 a.m. after a three-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born April 5, 1944 in Logansport to Thomas F. and Martha L. (Wagoner) Sanderson.
She graduated from Camden High School in 1962 and attended Ball State University. She married Thomas Williams of Burlington on April 9, 1966 at the Burrows Presbyterian Church, where she attended as a child.
Nancy spent most of her working career in the banking business in Hamilton County, eventually becoming a branch manager in Noblesville. After moving to Tipton County, she worked for Opal Graham Accounting and then Logan and Graham Accounting in Tipton. Nancy had a terrific personality and a warm smile and was loved by those that knew her. She enjoyed crafting and did detailed gift cards for people, mostly of flowers. After retirement, she and Tom enjoyed traveling the United States, and especially Alaska and Hawaii. She loved playing euchre that she learned playing on her grandfathers’ knee. Later she enjoyed playing hand and foot with ladies groups.
Nancy was a member of the Crazy Quilt Club, American Business Women’s Association, Kappa Kappa Kappa, Harmony Magic Barbershop, Normanda Christian Church and their ladies fellowship and praise team. She enjoyed wintering in North Fort Myers, Fla. for many years and loved walking and shelling on the beach. She and Tom made Kokomo their home for the last 10 years.
Nancy is survived by husband, Tom; son, Tony; daughter-in-law, Tami; grandson, Thomas; granddaughter, Tiffany; sister, Betty (Steve) Mills; sister-in-law, Jane (Bill) Kearns; brother-in-law, Jerry Williams; along with several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Martha Sanderson; brother, Dean Sanderson; sister-in-law, Joyce Sanderson; nephew, Brent Mills; and in-laws, Loyd and Mary Williams of Burlington.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s memory to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E.
