The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Director Cam Clark has announced that Lt. Col. Steve Hunter will serve as the next director of the DNR Division of Law Enforcement. He replaces outgoing director of law enforcement Lloyd Arnold.

“I welcome Steve Hunter to this role, and I look forward to his achievements in his new role with DNR,” Clark said.

Hunter has had an extensive career with DNR Law Enforcement that has spanned more than 31 years. Since 1987, he has served in various roles. He started as a field officer in Hamilton County, then served as District 4 lieutenant from 1997 to 2006, and was an operations major from 2006 to 2011. Hunter achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2011 and has served in the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center for the last two and a half years.

“I am excited for this opportunity to serve DNR Law Enforcement in this capacity. It is an honor to be a part of this agency and serve among its great men and women,” Hunter said.

Hunter enjoys squirrel hunting and spending time with his grandson.
