Weingarten calls on voters to pay attention to waste

Dear Editor:

Recently I received in the mail very slick-looking oversized post cards from Susan Brooks and Brian Bosma. I am sure many of you got similar postcards. These cards boasted of the great achievements they have accomplished. What many you may not have noticed are the statements on these cards that they were paid for with taxpayer money.

Now it is nice that Representative Brooks and House Speaker Bosma send me information about all the great things they did … but just before the election cycle. I would have to say this appears to me as campaign material about them but paid for by all of us. Why should anyone vote for an elected official who wastes taxpayer money to send out their own campaign material claiming it is official business?

They seem to be more interested in getting re-elected than anything else. If you are concerned about wasteful government spending, here is an easy way to show you care: Don’t vote for anyone who sends you campaign-like material at government expense.

Joe Weingarten
