Noblesville Parks Department provides family-friendly fun for you in August

While school bells have started ringing, the Noblesville Parks & Recreation Department isn’t ready for summer fun to end just yet. Family-friendly events are planned throughout the month of August to provide opportunities for the community to get outside and enjoy evenings at a concert, camp out in the park or watch a movie under the stars.

The following events are free unless a cost is indicated:

  • 2 – The Summer Concert Series ends with The Doo! Band at Forest Park Shelter No. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • 9 – Double your fun with two bands as Living Proof and Endless Summer Band perform from 6 to 9 p.m. at Federal Hill Commons. This concert is a rain make-up for shows originally scheduled in Dillon Park.
  • 10 – Flashback Fridays, sponsored by USI Consultants, will kick off with Classic Rock Experience returning to First Merchants Pavilion at Federal Hill Commons. Opening act, Meraki the Band, will take the stage at 7 p.m.

  • 11 – The annual Family Campout at Forest Park begins at 3 p.m. This unique event offers a fun way for families to enjoy a summer evening while camping out at the park. Cost is $20 per tent for Noblesville residents and $23 for nonresidents. Register by Wednesday, Aug. 8 by calling the parks department at 317-770-5750.
  • 18 – Concerts at the Commons, presented by Myers Construction Management, Inc., will wrap up the free series at Federal Hill Commons with Flying Toasters from 8 to 10 p.m. Opener Sam King will take the stage at 7 p.m.
  • 24 – The second Flashback Friday concert at Federal Hill Commons has The Four Freshmen performing from 8 to 10 p.m. and Edward Zlaty’s “GMH Jazz Orchestra” opening at 7 p.m.
  • 25 – The Summer Movies in the Park series returns to Forest Park with free screenings of various family-friendly movies from Disney classics to new award-winning favorites. The first movie in the series is Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” (PG, 109 minutes). The movies start at dusk at Shelter No. 1 and light concessions will be available for purchase.
  • 31 – In addition to the Summer Movies in the Park, the parks department is partnering with the Forest Park Aquatic Center to host a Flick ’N Float with the showing of “Soul Surfer” (PG, 106 minutes). The movie will start at dusk and will be shown on the pool deck while attendees view the movie from the pool. Pool admission after 5 p.m. is $4 and food and beverages will be available for purchase.
